* Processing times and mail times related service fees vary per type of service requested.  Mail times vary across the country.  

* Current Government processing begins at the time of delivery to the National Passport Center

– Routine Service:            6 – 8  weeks (additional mail back time – varies across the country)
– Expedited Service:        2 – 3   weeks (additional mail back time – varies across the country)

It may take up to 2-weeks from the day you apply until your application is ‘in Process’

Expedited at Agency :     requires international travel within 14 calendar days.

Life-or-death emergencies are serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family (parent, legal guardian, child, spouse, sibling, and grandparent), that require you to travel outside the United States within 72 hours (3 business days).

New Passport

When applying for your first or a new passport, you must be able to provide the following:

  • Copy of valid Driver’s License OR Government issued State I.D.
  • Original U.S. Birth Certificate or certified copy* (Long Form) – clearly stating parents names
  • (If applicable) Original U.S. Naturalization Certificate
    • The original Certificate is required and will be returned by the U.S. Passport Agency with the new U.S. passport

Applicable to:

  • First time applicants
  • If your previous U.S. passport was:
    • lost, stolen or damaged
    • issued more than 15 years ago
    • issued when you were under age 16 OR
    • only valid for 1 year

Renewal

If your passport is near expiration or has expired and was issued within the last 15 years – you can apply for a simple U.S. passport renewal. Additionally, applicants can apply for a Passport Renewal at any time during the validity of the current U.S. passport. Your old passport will be returned to you.

Eligibility (please verify):

  • Your passport has not been damaged or mutilated – no tears in pages (otherwise, see New Passport)
  • You are able to submit your current U.S. passport with the renewal application
  • Your name has not changed since your previous passport (see below re: name change)

If Name Change is required:

The below additional documentation must be submitted:

  • A Certified Marriage OR Court Order Certificate – legal documented proof of your name change (must be original or certified copy)
  • Your current U.S. passport must be valid for at least 12-months from date of issue

Lost, Stolen Or Damaged Passport

If your current passport was lost, stolen, or damaged, you will need to apply for a NEW Passport

Requirements: 

  • You will need to provide details regarding how and when the passport was lost or stolen
  • Copy of valid Driver’s License OR Government issued State I.D.
  • Original U.S. Birth Certificate or certified copy* (Long Form) – clearly stating parents names (if applicable)
  • Original U.S. Naturalization Certificate
    • The original Birth Certificate is required and will be returned by the U.S. Passport Agency with the new U.S. passport

If traveling abroad:

Should your U.S. passport be lost or stolen outside of the United States, please immediately contact the closest U.S. Consulate for passport replacement – attn.: American Citizens Department at any U.S. Consulate

  • In these matters, it is required to provide: a copy of lost/stolen passport ID page, a valid U.S. Government ID and an issued local police report as well as the necessary forms per the Consulate’s website.

Second Passports

US passport holders are allowed to hold 2 valid passports if there is a need and certain requirements are met. 2nd passports are valid for 4 years and are popular among frequent international travelers and the touring industry.

Requirements:

  • Current 10 year passport that has not been damaged, mutilated or torn.
  • Your current passport has to be submitted for the issuance of a 2nd passport, but will be returned to you with the 2nd passport.
  • New passport photo
  • Proof of necessity for 2nd passport which we can help provide.

If you have a current or previously valid 2nd passport:

  • You will be required to submit both your valid 10 year passport and previously issued 2nd passport for the issuance of a new 2nd.
  • Both current 10 year and old 2nd passport will be returned to you.

Limited Validity Replacement / Data Correction

Applicable types of corrections or changes

  • Printing error
  • Legal name change – when your current passport was issued within the last 12-months

Special Circumstances

  • If your current passport was limited to 1-year or less (in many cases, it’s required to apply for a new passport)
  • If you are ineligible to extend your passport (per amendment pages) – NEW PASSPORT instructions apply.

Minor Passport

Requirements for for MINORS over the age of 16 who are eligible for a 10-year passport:

  • At least one parent / guardian must accompany the minor at time of application
  • Parent/ or legal guardian must present valid Driver’s License OR Government issued ID
  • Original U.S. Birth Certificate* – long form – clearly stating parents names
  • Copy of Minor’s photo ID
  • Must provide Minor’s Social Security Number
  • Minor’s current, undamaged U.S. passport (if applicable)

Requirements for MINORS under the age of 16 (5 year passport)

  • Both parents/guardian must accompany the minor at the time of application.
  • Parents/legal guardian must present valid driver’s license or government issued ID.
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate – long form and clearly stating parent’s names.
  • Previously issued minor passport (if applicable).
  • If both parents are not available or can’t appear for some reason, please let us know so we can provide a consent form or additional guidance.

*Minors are under the age of 16 are required to go through the process as if they’re applying for the first time, even if they’ve had a passport before.

Passport Card

NOTE: The Passport Card cannot be used for international travel by air.

U.S. Passport Cards can be used to enter the U.S. at land border crossings OR seaports of entry from the following countries (ONLY):

  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • Caribbean
  • Bermuda

Specifics:

  • Both Adults and Minors are eligible for issuance
  • Passport Cards can be issued at the time as your U.S. passport booklet application
  • Validity period:
    • Adults 10 years
    • Minors 5 years

Emergency Issuance Abroad

For passports lost or stolen overseas, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Typically you will need to set up an emergency appointment to obtain a temporary travel document to continue your international movement.  We are here to provide support.
